Experience at Allama Iqbal Open University 2022

 

Today I am sharing my personal experience with AIOU. Everyone's experience varies from person to person. It is not possible that all students have a good experience. There may be a slight distinction in everyone's experience due to the required essentials.

AIOU is one of the well-recognized universities in Islamabad. Allama Iqbal Open University is the world's second-largest university. Almost thousands of men and women enroll every semester. The majority are women who take admission every year. AIOU has the aim of providing distance education in different disciplines. It is established in 1974. By date, you know very well how old it is. Aiou provides education to everyone regardless of gender biases. Allama Iqbal Open University is famous for providing education from the home base study at a very reasonable charge. AIOU offers you both undergraduate and postgraduate programs as well in the academic time period.

Education:

Education is a basic right of everyone. Aiou provides education at your doorstep. It is a great option for those who are not going on daily bases. Aiou is a great way to get your degree by studying at home. Aiou offers a number of courses according to different disciplines. Courses include Matric, FA, Icom, Bs Hons in any subject, BA, B.Ed. (1.5 years) (2.5 years) (4 years), MPhil programs, and Ph.D. level.

Fee Structure:

It is said that Aiou fee structure is very reasonable to everyone. But day by day it is increasing. The fee structure is almost the same as other private universities. Most of the students that are enrolled are belongs to rural areas and some are themselves doing little jobs as well. So it is difficult for them to pay such a high fee.

There are a number of programs offered to students. You can select the program according to your interest level.

                                                         Online System:

Not all programs but specifically B.Ed. the program has online workshops. Online workshops are efficient options to take a class at your home. But due to bad network connections in Pakistan, It is difficult to be online on time. Pakistan is a country who face load-shedding for decades. It is not a good option for those who face load-shedding issues.  Many students who live in rural areas face many hardships in joining the online workshops. If you have the proper network, and no issue with light then online workshops are the best option. But we are not lucky ones who get a proper network and no light issue in one place.

Assignment schedule:

The assignment schedule varies from discipline to discipline. Aiou gives you proper assignments that are uploaded on the website. The assignment submitted date is also mentioned on the website. You have time to work on your assignment. Assignments are divided according to your course code. Some courses have just 2 assignments in total and others course codes may have 4 assignments. The assignment consists of 100 marks in total. The passing mark of the assignment is 50. The assignment that is copy pasted considers zero. There is no favor to those who copy all the text from the internet. You may consider your coursebook and different books to take help.

Exams Schedule:

Exams are held once the assignment and workshops are completed. There is almost one month gap between assignment submission and Final Exams. There is a lot of time between papers so you can also prepare for your exams during the holidays. There is no concept of consecutive papers. Exams are held just at once during the whole semester.

Date sheet:

The date sheet of the exams is displayed mostly months ago on the website. You can easily download it from the website according to your discipline. In the date sheet, there is a proper display of the day, date, time, and course code.

Timing:

The timing of all the course codes is mostly from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. It’s the best time for those who also doing jobs along with studies. Time is enough to complete your paper.

Paper pattern:

 The paper consists of 100 marks. Each question is about 20 marks. In order to achieve good marks, you need to fill in at least 5 sheets. Some tutors are in the favor of quantity matters but others are in favor of quality. Make sure that you write the answers in a neat and clean way.

Workshop Attendance:

The workshop is scheduled according to the course code. You will see your schedule on the website by entering your roll number. Workshop attendance is mandatory for all students. If you want to pass the exams, then you should have at least 80% attendance in the workshop.

 

Result:

The result is announced once the exams are finished. Most of the time you heard the expected date. But the result was announced surprisingly not on the mentioned date. You can check your result by entering your roll number or registration number. If your marks are above 50 then you are considered a pass. But if your marks are below 50 then you are considered to reappear or fail.

Difficulties:

There are many advantages of studying in Aiou. But when you have numerous merits then you also have some limitations. In order to study in Aiou, you make sure that you have a laptop for taking workshops. B.Ed. assignment are now typing based assignment. So you need to have laptop for that. This is a negative point because there are number of student who are unable to buy it.

Second negative point is that most of the students don’t have proper network .The students from Sindh side and Murree side face huge issues regarding their connectivity during workshop.

Third negative point is that due to online workshop, most of the students face Electricity issue. Most of the time they are unable to connect to class due to load shedding.

No doubt Aiou is good university but these are issues that students face during their academic period. Aiou should consider these point seriously and save the future of many students.

I hope that my point of view can help you in taking admission in Aiou. There is no issue in enrolling yourself but these are some points that majority of the student face.
